Works with OneStream

OneStream to Power BI

Conncise brings your OneStream data and its full model into Power BI, automatically. Hierarchies, relationships and business logic intact. Totals match your consolidation, drill-downs work.

The situation

The numbers live in OneStream. The dashboards don't.

Your cubes hold the consolidated truth: entities, scenarios, currencies, eliminations. Reporting happens somewhere else. Cube views get exported, Quick View results get copied around in Excel, and every month someone rebuilds the same report by hand. Power BI is the obvious destination. Getting OneStream data there in a form Finance can trust is the hard part.

The connector

A connection moves data. A model adds meaning.

OneStream provides a Power BI connector, and it does what a connection should do. It reads cube data, dimension members and their properties from your application, securely and read-only.

What arrives in Power BI is data in tables. The semantic model is not included, so nothing rolls up and nothing drills down. Building it by hand takes months of modeling and DAX: dimension tables, relationships, hierarchies, aggregation weights, account type behavior. Every structure change starts the rework again. This is where Power BI plans on OneStream stall.

Conncise connects directly with OneStream and generates that model from your metadata, automatically.

How it works

From OneStream to Power BI, automatically.

Everything runs in your own environment. Your teams build the reports they want, in Power BI itself.

01

Reads your application

Conncise connects to OneStream and reads the metadata and data you scope. No changes to your application design.

02

Generates the model

A central model in Power BI, with hierarchies, relationships and business logic intact.

03

Stays in sync

Data loads on the schedule you set, or on demand. Structure changes come through the same way. No rebuild.

What comes through

Totals match OneStream.

The things that break in a flat extract are exactly the things Conncise carries over.

OneStream keeps members in consolidation order. Reporting wants statement order. Conncise handles that presentation in the model, so you don't build alternate hierarchies in your application just to get a P&L to read right.

  • HierarchiesParent-child, with aggregation weights.
  • Account typesRevenue and balance accounts add up correctly.
  • Drill-downFrom consolidated totals to base members.
  • ViewsPeriodic, QTD and YTD behave correctly.
  • UD dimensionsYour custom dimensions, ready to slice by.

FAQ

Common questions.

OneStream has a Power BI connector. Why Conncise?

The connector brings data into Power BI, and it does that well. The semantic model you still build and maintain yourself. Conncise generates it from your OneStream metadata, with hierarchies, relationships and business logic intact.

Do I need the OneStream Power BI connector for Conncise?

No. Conncise makes its own connection to OneStream and brings over both the data and the model. If you already use the connector, Conncise can also use it for the data extraction.

Does Conncise require changes in my OneStream application?

No. There is nothing to build or maintain in OneStream: no cube views to create, no changes to your application design.

Do numbers in Power BI match OneStream?

Yes. Aggregation weights and account type behavior carry over, so totals roll up the way they do in OneStream.

What happens when our OneStream structure changes?

The model for Power BI updates automatically, in the same cycle as your data. Nothing to rebuild, nothing to fix by hand.

Where does our data live?

In your own Azure tenant. Nothing runs in a Conncise cloud.

How long does implementation take?

Within a week, without a consultancy track. From there, your teams build reports in Power BI itself.
